I saw a disturbing commercial today. One that I would’ve been very interested in when I was a lot younger. It was a commercial for a car dealership. A beautiful young lady with a winning smile peered into the camera as she excitedly said, “Bad credit, no credit, bankruptcy, repo, messy divorce, NO PROBLEM! O down and pay later with your tax refund. Who has good credit nowadays anyway? You can drive away today in a new car!” SHARK!!!! GET YO FEET OUTTA THE WATER!!! I jest. 😀
As I said above, I would’ve been enticed by that commercial when I was younger. I fell into the credit card crunch, car was repossessed, and credit score was -5000 (negative five thousand.) LOL Okay, I exaggerated my credit score, but it was bad. Companies like that dealership prey on people that are desperate or that are not financially savvy. They really do. They want us to feel inadequate and feel that we have no other choice. They know that a high percentage of people make plans to spend their tax refunds instead of making plans to save or invest. What does that tell you? Although the commercial seems to have our best interest in mind, it’s the total opposite. They’re pretty much counting on us to blow our money and can’t wait to trap us year after year after year. You better believe the interest rate will be through the roof if you have no credit, bad credit, a repo, or a bankruptcy.
We have to be wise and remember what the bible says in Romans 13:8 Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.
I’m not saying we’re not supposed to have bills, but I’m saying we are supposed to pay our bills on time to keep our word so that we can avoid having bad credit. We have to stay away from sharks. I’m not judging. I’m . . .
Just blogging it out. Oh and Happy Thursday Night!! 😀
