Twenty Dollar Popcorn?!?

My husband and I ran to the cleaners yesterday morning, and while we were there, we decided to go to Vons in search of a snack to eat for our usual weekend movie binge. We noticed the father-son popcorn sellers as we walked into the store, but our brains had already committed to finding a snack in the grocery store’s aisles. Unfortunately, nothing caught our eyes or our stomachs. I think it was I who suggested stopping by the popcorn table.
Upon our approach, we noticed the salted caramel popcorn. After a little small talk, we made our request. And then the father told us the price. TWENTY DOLLARS!!! The little boy was so cute that it almost felt sinful to say, ” Never mind.” It’s the Boy Scouts for crying out loud. I handed him the twenty-dollar bill with a smile. As we walked away, we chuckled under our breath until we got in our car. Yeah, we know it’s a fundraiser and a good cause. We just didn’t know.
Are we the only people who didn’t know that Boy Scout popcorn costs $20?

  1. I used to think fundraisers were a ripoff, until one day I was complaining about the price of something and someone said to me it’s a fundraiser it’s going to be overpriced. I laughed and said you’re right.

  2. My friend pointed out the fact that she wouldn’t have a problem donating $20. It’s jarring, correlating $20 to a small bag of popcorn. In our brains, that does not compute. 🤣😂
